HGHB Commissioned to Design Renovation at Stanford Hopkins Marine Laboratories

HGHB Architects is currently working on design renovation of Loeb Laboratory space within one of the historic laboratory structures on the Hopkins Marine Station campus. The project, scheduled to begin in early 2012, involves renovation of a principal lab space, supporting instrumentation labs and conference space, in order to accommodate a new faculty member (Professor Larry Crowder, the Scientific Director for Ocean Solutions) and his team of assistants.

According to HGHB architect and principal Phil Korchek, the project will involve stripping away prior renovations to reveal the original concrete construction. High-efficiency lighting will replace outdated light fixtures, and infrastructure will be added to improve data connectivity.

The delivery of the project is a Design-Build process, teaming with the General Contractor, Blach Construction, who is also involved in several other infrastructure upgrades implemented across the campus.
