Monterey Peninsula College Student Center
Monterey, California
The existing Student Center was stripped down to its essential structure and reconstructed to create spaces for various sized student groupings, some as small as five and as large as a few hundred. Portions of the existing exterior concrete walls were removed and replaced with glass curtain walls to introduce natural light, engage the interiors with the ravine, and provide an inviting entrance. New HVAC ductwork and other overhead utilities were left exposed allowing ceilings to be raised. New finishes allowed the introduction of bold colors and textures to enliven and enrich the student-centered space.
